Fox’s The Five Erupts as Jessica Tarlov Snaps at Jesse Watters on Air

Additional Coverage:

The latest episode of Fox News’s primetime show The Five featured a tense exchange between panelists, culminating in Jessica Tarlov firmly putting Jesse Watters in his place.

The discussion centered on James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Texas, who has drawn criticism from Republicans over his progressive Christian beliefs.

Talarico has publicly suggested there are six sexes and entertained the idea that God might be non-binary. His opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton-who has the backing of former President Donald Trump-mocked him with the nickname “Low-T Talarico,” claiming Talarico lacks the testosterone needed to lead the state.

During the debate, Greg Gutfeld teased Tarlov, saying, “Jessica, I know you’re just dying to defend this guy. He’s right up your alley.” He went on to explain Paxton’s “Low-T” jab as a young person’s way of saying they’re confident in their vitality.

Watters then sarcastically interrupted Tarlov’s response with “Thanks for clarifying,” prompting her to snap back, “You’re welcome. I often have to explain things to you.” The moment reflected ongoing friction between the two, as Tarlov had previously challenged Watters over misleading comments about Israel and Middle East politics.

In an earlier episode, the panel debated the recent U.S.-Iran negotiations in Switzerland aimed at ending conflict in the Middle East. Watters referred to “the Jewish question,” drawing criticism from Tarlov, who corrected him: “You’re not supposed to say Jews instead of Israel.

They’re separate things. Just say Israel.”

Watters responded defensively, but the panel’s banter soon took a turn toward awkward humor, with Gutfeld joking about a senator from Maine linked to a Nazi tattoo-a joke that only added to Tarlov’s frustration.

By the June 23 episode, Watters faced renewed backlash for repeating his conflation of Israel with Jewish identity. Tarlov once again corrected him, reminding the panel and viewers that “Israel” and “the Jews” are not interchangeable terms.

Her pointed question, “What did we learn last night, Jesse?” highlighted the ongoing tension.

Viewers took to social media to express their frustration with Watters’s remarks, with some announcing they had stopped watching Fox News altogether.

The exchanges on The Five reveal the sharp divides not only in politics but within the network’s own commentary team, underscoring how sensitive and complex discussions about identity, religion, and international affairs continue to provoke heated debate.
