MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — A former Mount Pleasant school resource officer was fired in March after he lied to investigators about contact he was reportedly having with students while outside of school.
According to newly released information from a Mount Pleasant Police official, an investigation into SRO Lynwood King began on Jan. 16 after the department was made aware that he had been in contact with students outside of school via social media. In response to the allegations, the department immediately placed King on administrative leave and launched an internal investigation.
That very same day the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office also reportedly launched a criminal investigation into complaints that they had received on King. The agency notified MPPD and clarified that the communications in question involved texts and photos that were not of any sexual nature…
