In a twist to the ongoing dysfunction within the Oakland school district, the superintendent’s chief of staff, a former city councilwoman, mysteriously stopped showing up for work several weeks ago and on Wednesday morning submitted her resignation after six months on the job.
Lynette McElhaney told the Chronicle she was leaving for personal reasons that include dedicating more time to her foundation and her corporate coaching business.
She said she remained on the district’s payroll since her hire and while she hasn’t been in the office or attended school board or staff meetings since late April, she had “just been in communication with (Superintendent Denise Saddler) primarily.”…
