Request for sheriff’s office pay increase withdrawn amid ongoing questions

MARIETTA — A request from the sheriff’s office to increase pay by $40,000 for two of its top positions was withdrawn this week amid ongoing questions from the Cobb County Board of Commissioners and community members.

Commissioners were scheduled to consider a pay increase for the sheriff’s chief deputy and assistant chief deputy positions, currently held by Rhonda Anderson and Gina Hawkins, during their regular meeting Tuesday. If approved, the chief deputy’s salary would have increased from $175,000 to $215,000, while the assistant chief deputy’s salary would rise from $170,000 to $210,000.

Though initially on the consent agenda, the item was ultimately withdrawn without board discussion…
