KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — On Saturday, the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council will hold its annual Kanoe the Kazoo paddling event beginning at Merrill Park in Comstock Township and ending at Verburg Park in Kalamazoo.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet local community members,” said Bela Ballez, executive director of the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council.

The Kalamazoo River Watershed Council is a nonprofit that works with regional organizations to support the conservation of the Kalamazoo River. The nonprofit’s annual event Kanoe the Kazoo takes participants along a 5-mile stretch of the Kalamazoo River over the course of two hours.
“It’s a really good stretch for beginners,” Ballez said.
Participants will park and meet at Verburg Park before shuttling over to Merrill Park. Complimentary bagels, coffee and water will be provided by the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council…
