Savannah at record-breaking labor force, GDOL says

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Officials from the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) announced Thursday an “all-time labor force and employment highs” in the three-county Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The labor force in Savannah increased by 1,406 in May, reaching an all-time high of 220,823, according to the report. In May 2025, the unemployment rate was 2.8%, which has since gone down to 2.7% this year.
