■ Toledo native Andrew Messer is set to be ordained a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Toledo on Saturday.
The ordination Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo. The Mass can be live streamed at toledopriesthood.org.
While studying astrophysics at the University of Toledo, he encountered God as creator of the universe. He later attended the Pontifical North American College in Rome, where he will spend one more year to complete his graduate studies.On May 16, seminarian Evan Sekerak was ordained to the transitional diaconate.
