New Summit Art Space event series offers hands-on activities, demonstrations

AKRON, Ohio – Summit Artspace, a nonprofit community arts center, has rolled out a new and free monthly program designed to enhance community engagement with exhibiting and resident artists.

The series, Art After Hours, aims to deepen engagement through the arts via curated activities and experiences. The free events highlight resident artists and current exhibitions. Featured artists and activities are different each month. Event dates coincide with opening nights for the space’s new art exhibitions, according to Summit Artspace Executive Director Natalie Grieshammer Patrick.

Art After Hours is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • July 9
  • Aug. 13
  • Sept. 10
  • Oct. 15
  • Nov. 12
  • Dec. 10

The July 9 event will feature artist Hannah Bates, who will talk about her works and the artistic processes she uses to create cement frames, image transfers and glass screen printing…
