BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — McFarland police officers helped evacuate nearby homes and coordinated with firefighters during a home fire on San Lucas Street on Tuesday, June 23, as the threat from the growing blaze increased.
McFarland Police Department officers responded to the fire and, upon arrival, confirmed that all occupants had safely exited the home. Officers then began assisting with evacuations of nearby residences.
Officers Barron and Bottoms helped keep residents safe, worked to de-escalate the situation, and coordinated with Kern County Fire personnel during the response. Officer Barron also assisted in helping find animals inside the residence from outside the structure, and Kern County Fire personnel successfully rescued adult dogs and puppies…
