Rockford mom wants more changes after son was left alone on bus

ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Rockford mother wants the school district to make additional changes after her 3-year-old son was left alone on a bus.

She is calling on the school district to increase the use of technology that requires checks and create a public reporting system for greater accountability.

Melissa Kline says her son Caleb, now 4, was left alone on a Rockford school bus for more than an hour in November 2025.

“It’s incredibly terrifying,” Kline said. “He was actively trying to get himself out of the harness. He was like wedged around his hips, is what the report said. He was reaching to try to pull himself out and he was screaming.”…
