GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Green Bay Metro Fire Department officials say Fire Station 3 on Shawano Avenue is temporarily closed after heavy rain caused significant flooding during storms Wednesday night.
The department said the basement at Station 3, located at 885 Shawano Ave., filled with floodwater, and parts of the first floor also suffered water damage. Electrical service to the building was shut off as a precaution, and firefighters, paramedics and equipment normally based there were moved to nearby stations while cleanup continues.
City officials said contractors began removing water right away and have brought in drying and dehumidifying equipment. The full extent of the damage is still being evaluated, and the department has not announced when the station will reopen…
