Oklahoma City, Norman Fire Departments help with rescue at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

LAWTON, Okla. (KFOR) – The Oklahoma City and Norman Fire Departments assisted with a rescue when a hiker got hurt in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, the Oklahoma Task Force 1 Helicopter Search and Rescue Team, comprised of one Norman firefighter and one Oklahoma City firefighter, worked with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, the Oklahoma National Guard, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in an aerial rescue operation to safely hoist the patient from the rugged terrain and get them to medical personnel.

“A special thank you to the Lawton Fire Department and Medicine Park Fire Department and the many responding agencies whose quick actions provided exceptional patient care, stabilization, and packaging before additional rescue resources arrived.
