Sarasota County residents planning errands, library visits, park activities, transit trips or landfill drop-offs around the Fourth of July holiday should check the county’s Independence Day schedule before heading out.
Most Sarasota County Government offices will be closed Friday, July 3 and/or Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The good news for residents: curbside solid waste collection will not be affected. Trash, recycling and yard waste pickup will continue on the regular schedule.
Emergency services and other essential services not listed in the county’s closure notice will continue operating as normal.
Closed Friday, July 3
The following Sarasota County offices and facilities will be closed Friday, July 3:
- All Sarasota County library branches and library offices will be closed.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources recreation centers will be closed.
- Englewood Sports Complex will be closed.
- Breeze ticket outlets and the Breeze administrative office will be closed.
- The Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center, administrative office and The Re-Uz-It Shop will be closed.
- The Venice Chemical Collection Center and administrative office will be closed.
- The administrative office at Central County Landfill will be closed.
- Public Utilities cashier windows and customer service offices will be closed.
- The UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County office will be closed.
- The Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller will be closed.
- The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office will be closed.
Open or Operating Friday, July 3
Several services will remain available Friday, July 3.
- All Breeze services, including routes, OnDemand and Breeze Plus, will operate regular hours.
- Drop-off and disposal at the Central County Landfill and the Citizens’ Convenience Center will operate regular hours.
- Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range will be open.
- Sarasota County trails, unstaffed nature preserves, parks and beaches will remain open.
Closed Saturday, July 4
On Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, additional county services and facilities will be closed.
- All Sarasota County library branches and offices will be closed.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources recreation centers will be closed.
- Englewood Sports Complex will be closed.
- Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range will be closed.
- Breeze bus routes, Breeze Plus, ticket outlets and the Breeze administrative office will be closed.

- Drop-off and disposal at the Central County Landfill and the Citizens’ Convenience Center will be closed.
Open or Operating Saturday, July 4
While many offices and facilities will be closed on the holiday itself, several outdoor and transit services will remain available.
- Breeze OnDemand, Route 77 Siesta Islander and Route 78 Bay Runner will operate regular hours.
- Sarasota County trails, unstaffed nature preserves, parks and beaches will remain open.
State and Constitutional Offices Closed July 2–6
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, the Sarasota County Property Appraiser and the Sarasota County Tax Collector will be closed Thursday, July 2 through Monday, July 6…
