COLUMBUS, Ohio — Every year about 1,000 young people come out of foster care in Ohio, according to the Ohio Foster, Adoption & Kinship Care. They become adults and find themselves alone, without the support to navigate life.
“We all wish we didn’t need the system,” said Kara Wente, director of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth. “But unfortunately, we know that as long as you’re dealing with people, there are going to be times when families need a break, and they need some time to recover and get treatment.”
