Awareness: HIV in SC—education, prevention, and testing still matter

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – HIV is no longer the diagnosis it was decades ago, thanks to major advances in treatment and prevention. But health experts say misinformation and stigma continue to keep many people from getting tested, seeking treatment, or learning about prevention options.

On this week’s Awareness, Billie Jean Shaw sits down with members of PAALS, an organization that provides support and services to people living with HIV, along with a Midlands man who shared his personal experience using PrEP, an HIV prevention medication.
