Stanislaus State to begin testing and transitioning to a digital parking permit system in the fall semester

Students no longer have to worry about forgetting their physical parking permits and risking a ticket, this upcoming fall semester they’ll have a digital option.

In a campus-wide email the University Police Department (UPD) announced a digital parking permit system that will be implemented by the university this fall. This digital parking permit system will utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology at the Turlock Campus.

Stanislaus State will continue to use physical permits during the testing and transition phase. According to the email addressing the campus community, your license plate will serve as your parking permit. When a permit is purchased by a student, it will be digitally linked to the registered vehicle’s license plate.

Students’ license plate information will be held in UPD’s secure parking management system. Enforcement vehicles equipped with LPR technology will electronically verify the parking permits by scanning license plates while patrolling campus parking lots…
