Solon man gets probation for burglary of elderly man

IOWA CITY — A Solon man, who entered the home of an elderly man after he refused to give him charcoal and then pushed him to the floor, pleaded last week to a lesser charge and will not face a prison term.

Jacob A. Ray, 33, originally charged with second-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, pleaded to second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, last week in Johnson County District Court.

According to a plea agreement, the prosecution will recommend the 10-year sentence be suspended and Ray receive probation. He will be required to pay any damages to the victim’s home that was caused during the May 31 incident…
