WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Fire Department did another round of inspections at firework tents across the city on Monday.
Fourth of July firework sales kicked off on Saturday in Wichita and will continue through the holiday.

The fire department conducted initial inspections over the weekend. According to community risk reduction officer Lucas May, crews followed up on Monday to make sure that professional-grade fireworks were not being sold and that the tents were set up safely.
“We want to make sure that they’ve got the correct fire extinguishers, they’ve got enough exits, all of the parameters that we set for them to sell the fireworks,” May said. “We want to make sure that the fireworks that they have for sale are the appropriate ones to take home. Occasionally, we’ll find some professional-grade fireworks that just get mixed in, so we like to segregate those.”
He said that any professional-grade fireworks found on the shelves are confiscated and that the department finds out where they came from. Most of the time, the illegal fireworks were accidentally mixed up while being shipped…
