WASHINGTON — Legislation proposed by DC councilmember Robert White earlier this year was the center of attention during a hearing on Monday at the Wilson Building. The proposed legislation aims to get a handle on skyrocketing utility bills across the District.
It’s called the Utility Rates and Ratemaking Amendment Act of 2026 and it aims to take the expense of Pepco and Washington Gas’s infrastructure projects off of customers, hopefully reducing gas and electric bills.
