Local pediatrician reminds families about fireworks safety ahead of July 4

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – America’s 250th birthday celebration is coming up this Saturday, and with that, may come some larger than usual celebrations.

While fireworks are the go-to attraction for many on the 4th of July, one Evansville doctor is encouraging those will be celebrating to do so safely.

Experts say people should purchase legal fireworks, light them on a flat surface, stay at least 200 feet away from the fireworks, if possible, and also wear closed toed shoes and long pants…
