LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Mayor Craig Greenberg delivered his weekly update Tuesday from the newly renovated Smoketown Ballard Park, celebrating what he called a major investment in a neighborhood that has waited “far too long” for a world-class park.
The redesigned park features new amenities for all ages, including a timber climbing area, playground, pavilion, fitness stations, gathering areas and expanded green space. The mayor said the project is a $1.5 million investment and marks the first completed full-scale park redesign under the city’s Parks for All Action Plan. He said about $800,000 came from the city budget, with roughly $700,000 raised by the Parks Alliance of Louisville.
