COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – With summer heat pushing air conditioning systems to work harder, a local HVAC company is urging homeowners to schedule routine maintenance before small problems become costly breakdowns.
Energy Savers of Columbus services around 4,500 customers in the Chattahoochee Valley each year. General Manager Mike Gunter said the company is already seeing an influx of service calls from new customers with older equipment.
What can go wrong
“Today I’m getting alerts on my phone, we’re booking service calls and it’s new customers with older equipment that we’ve never been to,” Gunter said. “Odds are it’s going to cost them hundreds of dollars to fix and maybe even thousands.”
Gunter said routine maintenance can prevent premature system failure. He said common issues include clogged drains and dirty air filters — problems he described as simple fixes that, if left unaddressed, could damage an HVAC system beyond repair…
