Hot and humid conditions continue through the holiday weekend

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Wednesday morning! It is another warm start across the area this morning, with temperatures already sitting in the middle to upper 70s. A few locations across the Columbus urban heat island are even beginning the day in the low 80s. It is certainly a reminder that summer is in full swing.

Although there is no Heat Advisory in effect today, conditions will still become quite hot this afternoon. High temperatures are expected to climb into the middle 90s, and when combined with the humidity, heat index values will approach the 100-degree mark in many locations. If you plan to spend an extended period outdoors, be sure to stay well hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and pay close attention to how your body is responding to the heat.

Tonight will provide little relief, as temperatures remain mild overnight. Morning lows on Thursday will only fall into the middle and upper 70s, making for another warm and muggy start to the day…
