Local customers who bank at Huntington Bank may remember opening their account at City Bank & Trust. Over the ensuing years and several acquisitions, mergers and name changes, the bank became Cadence. Now, after a $1.7 billion purchase, it is now Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington.
Though the ownership and name have changed, a lot is the same. All the branches remain, as do most of the employees.
There is one large distinction. Huntington comes with $227,513,322,000 in deposits as of March of 2026, five times more than Cadence, and Cadence’s 390 branches will mean that Huntington now has roughly 1,400 locations in 21 states…
