Man sentenced for using metal grinder to break into Omaha restaurant safe

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The man accused of using a metal cutter to break into a popular Omaha restaurant has been sentenced to time behind bars.

A judge sentenced Jason Fischer to at least five years for six separate burglary charges.

One of those counts stems from a February 2025 incident at Spezia, an Italian steakhouse near 72nd and Grover. Investigators allege Fischer used a metal cutter to break into the manager’s office and cut open the side of a fireproof safe before taking cash and other items…
