Don’t be the ‘I’ in DUI: California law enforcement to crack down on drunk driving Fourth of July weekend

(FOX40.COM) — Through a multi-agency Rapid Arrest of Intoxicated Drivers operation, California Highway Patrol arrested 24 people across Stanislaus County at the end of June.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one person dies in a drunk-driving crash every 44 minutes. So CHP officials emphasized that even though these heightened enforcement periods are critical, they are always on the lookout for intoxicated and reckless drivers.

“It is a proactive way to ensure we remove impaired drivers from the roadway,” Isabel Diaz with CHP’s Central Division said Wednesday afternoon…
