The National Weather Service is warning residents across Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Southwest North Carolina to prepare for dangerous heat and the potential for strong thunderstorms through at least Friday.
According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued early Thursday, heat index values are expected to approach or exceed 100 degrees in most locations outside the higher elevations. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of the region.
