COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — An assault that took place in east Columbus on June 27 is now being ruled a homicide after the victim died multiple days following the altercation.
In a Friday update, Columbus police said that Richard Kifutu, 51, died at 5:02 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers went to the 5000 block of East Livingston Avenue at around 12:18 a.m. on Saturday and found Kifutu unresponsive.
He was taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries three days later. Court documents said Kifutu suffered from severe brain trauma after being in a physical confrontation.
