Power restored to Rescue Mission in downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Power has been restored to the Rescue Mission after a transformer broke down.

According to the Indiana Michigan Power website, electricity was restored to the building around 2:30 Friday morning.

During the heatwave that has been beating down on northeast Indiana and surrounding areas since Monday, temperatures reached up to a 104-degree heat index on Thursday in Fort Wayne. The Rescue Mission is a part of a list of places that serve as a cooling station for those without shelter.

Thursday, at around 10:45 p.m., the Indiana Michigan Power Outage map showed that fewer than 5 customers were without power, with a circle placed around the Rescue Mission’s location…
