COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus police have arrested a man and charged him in the death of a seven-week-old boy.
According to police, officers went to the 2600 block of Divot Place on Wednesday at 11:41 p.m. on reports a child was not breathing. An infant, identified as Diamond Phillips, was found unresponsive by officers and received treatment from Mifflin Township fire medics. Phillips was taken to a hospital and died at 12:19 a.m. on Thursday.

An investigation coordinated by police and the Franklin County coroner’s office determined the infant suffered blunt-force trauma. A warrant for the arrest of Michael Watkins, 40, was issued and he was arrested and charged with murder.
Watkins was arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday and received a $1.5 million bond. He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing next Friday morning…
