CALVERT, Ala. — A proposed data center campus in northern Mobile County would bring one of the region’s largest technology infrastructure investments to Calvert, but the project is already drawing questions from some nearby residents about land use, utilities and the long-term impact on the rural community.
Beacon Data Centers is proposing the Calvert Infrastructure Hub on a 650-acre site between Highway 43 and Shepard House Road. According to the company, about 95 acres would be developed, with the rest of the property remaining largely undisturbed as wooded buffer and open land. The company says the first building is targeted for completion in 2027.
The project would include two data center buildings and supporting infrastructure designed to support cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital communications and other online services.
