Horsemen’s Park ready for Fourth of July weekend racing after $1M in track improvements

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – While many in the metro will have their eyes on fireworks this weekend, others will be focused on the ponies running around an improved Horsemen’s Park track.

Nebraska Horsemen’s CEO Lori Thomas expects 5,000 to 6,000 people per day to attend events at the track this weekend.

“It draws a lot of attention and people will comment and ask me if I’m getting ready for the derby, something of that nature, and I quickly respond with a little card that has our live racing dates on it and I hand it out. So I’m a little bit of a billboard for Nebraska horse racing,” Thomas said.
