The Fairview community celebrated America’s birthday with the dedication of a historic schoolhouse bell, now known as the Freedom Bell at the Fairview Area Historical Society on Saturday.
The dedication ceremony was held at the historic Sturgeon House property on Avonia Road, where the Fairview Area Historical Society officially unveiled the restored bell as part of the community’s Independence Day festivities.
The celebration featured guest speakers, a blessing of the bell, and its inaugural ringing. Community members were also invited to ring the Freedom Bell themselves, marking the occasion and honoring the nation’s 250th birthday.
Following the ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to take photos with the bell and sign a commemorative guest book. Organizers said the book will be placed inside a time capsule the Fairview Area Historical Society is assembling for future generations…
