CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Benjamin Liska, the founder of Benjamin’s Surf Shop and a well-known figure in the Coastal Bend’s surfing and skating community, has died following heart health complications. He was 74.
Liska opened Benjamin’s Surf Shop in 1976 as a small surfboard store at the corner of Airline Road and McArdle Road in Corpus Christi.
Over the decades, the business grew into a Coastal Bend landmark, serving generations of surfers, skateboarders and families with boards, apparel and footwear. The shop became known not only for its products but also for the community that formed around it…
