Frontier Airlines appears to be leaving Corpus Christi just one year after the city enticed the low-cost carrier to the Corpus Christi International Airport with a nearly $1.2 million revenue guarantee.
Rumors of the budget airline’s departure from the Coastal Bend began to swirl on social media recently after Simple Flying, an online aviation news outlet, published a story announcing that Frontier was cutting routes in Corpus Christi; Knoxville, Tennessee; Sarasota, Florida; Spokane, Washington; San Jose, Costa Rica; and St. Maarten in the Caribbean Sea. That prompted Corpus Christi city officials to issue a statement refuting the claims that Frontier had already terminated its twice-weekly nonstop service from the Coastal Bend to Denver, Colorado.
“Initial reports… including an article on the online aviation news site Simple Flying, suggest that Frontier Airlines would immediately terminate service and leave the Corpus Christi market.
