Alternating overnight I-26 closures announced for Buncombe County

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced that alternating sections of I-26 in Buncombe County will close overnight for road work.

Officials said that the closures on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. will allow contractors to smooth and re-stripe the riding surface.

Here is the schedule:

  • Tuesday and Thursday: I-26 West from Airport Road (Exit 40) to Brevard Road (Exit 33) with Airport Road (N.C. 280) and Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25) serving as the detour.
  • Wednesday: I-26 East from Brevard Road (Exit 33) to Airport Road (Exit 40) with I-40 East, Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25) and Airport Road (N.C. 280) serving as the detour.
