Ohio twins in Siders neglect case died of natural causes

(NewsNation) — Two young twin girls who were siblings of the 16 children found living in a small room in rural Ohio last week died of natural causes tied to premature birth, according to birth and death records.

Bailey Lee Siders and Faith Lee Siders were born and died on the same day, Nov. 20, 2022, at a hospital in Columbus, NewsNation affiliate WCMH-TV reported. Records show they lived for about an hour. They were born joined at the chest, sharing organs, about four months early. Death records list the cause as respiratory failure linked to extreme prematurity.

The infant girls’ deaths come as prosecutors are building a case against four members of the Siders family, who were arrested June 30 after officers found 16 children, ages 17 months to 18 years, in a 12-by-12-foot room in Hamden, Ohio. Seven of the children were taken to hospitals in Columbus, some for emergency care. One was in critical condition last Tuesday.
