COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The state of Ohio will consider investing $1 million to support 16 children rescued from a home in Vinton County.
According to two people familiar with the request, the Department of Children and Youth (DCY) is in the process of filing a late agenda item to request $1 million to support the children, ages 17 months to 18 years, with foster care placements and court proceedings. The filing is going to the state Controlling Board, which is expected to approve the award at its next meeting.

“We are having discussions with the DeWine administration and our legislators who represent that area regarding funding support in response to the deplorable situation in Vinton County,” Olivia Wile, Ohio House Republicans spokesperson, said.
On June 30, Vinton County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a home in Hamden and found 16 children who were allegedly kept isolated in a 12-by-12 room. Seven of the children were taken to hospitals, with two being flown to trauma centers. Gary Siders, 73, Christina Siders, 66, Gary Siders II, 36, and Elizabeth Siders, 33, were arrested, and each was charged with 16 counts of endangering children.
