Lurie Children’s Hospital has taken the next step in its plans to build a new inpatient pediatric facility in west suburban Downers Grove.
After announcing in January its intent to build a hospital in Downers Grove, which would be Lurie Children’s first inpatient hospital outside its main location in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, the hospital has since filed a certificate of need with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
Lurie says the project’s total cost would be about $480.1 million, with a completion date of Dec. 31, 2029. Additionally, Lurie has submitted a separate certificate of need for the discontinuation of its outpatient facility in Westchester, which would be closed if approval for the Downers Grove facility is granted…
