Grounded Boots Relief expands early disaster relief efforts beyond the Carolinas

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — When disaster strikes, a Hendersonville-based non-profit responds. Now, over 30 volunteers are working to expand their disaster response operations across the Carolinas and beyond.

Grounded Boots Relief positions trained volunteers during crises. Those volunteers use specialized equipment to reach frontliners and communities cut off during emergencies in some of the hardest-hit spots, members said.

“We’re able to access these other points that organizations aren’t able to because a lot of times they’re relying on sedans and other vehicles that aren’t able to go through that terrain,” said John Badger, founder and executive director of Grounded Boots Relief…
