Expert Reveals Concern Level for U.S. Region After Stunning Earthquake

A modest earthquake recently rattled parts of the Chicago suburbs, sending a jolt through a region not known for seismic activity.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the event as a 2.9 magnitude quake centered roughly 10 miles offshore from northern Illinois, at a depth of about three miles beneath the waters of Lake Michigan.
