Financial experts blame cost of living on credit card debt rise as many turn to counseling

According to the Federal Reserve’s 2026 Diary of Consumer Payment Choice, the average U.S. consumer makes 16 credit card payments per month, compared with 15 debit card payments and 6 cash payments.
