PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland metro area will see some closures – including on two major freeways – through the weekend, and transportation officials say drivers should prepare for some delays.
I-205 NB AT ABERNETHY BRIDGE:
Crews will close I-205 northbound at the Abernethy Bridge from 11 p.m. Friday through sometime on Saturday morning so they can complete concrete work on the bridge.
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) said the closure is only for the northbound lanes between Highway 99E and Highway 43, and the southbound lanes will stay open.
Drivers can use I-5 and I-84 as detours, and local traffic can use the Arch Bridge to cross the Willamette River.
I-5 AT ROSE QUARTER:
The northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 5 will be closed through the Rose Quarter in Portland overnight from 10 p.m. Saturday through about noon on Sunday.
- Southbound closures start at Exit 302B to I-405, or at the Fremont Bridge
- Northbound closures start at Exit 300 to I-84 eastbound
- I-84 westbound drivers will be forced to take I-5 southbound
Crews will work for about 14 hours to install a new overhead sign structure at the Oregon Convention Center…
