Saturday got off to a soggy start as thunderstorms dumped more than an inch of rain across parts of Springfield during the early morning hours. Thankfully, the wet weather didn’t stick around for long, and we finished the day on a sunny note with comfortable summertime temperatures.
More quiet weather and below-average temperatures are expected on Sunday. Afternoon highs will only climb into the mid-to-upper 80s, accompanied by noticeably low humidity. Skies will be mostly sunny, and with the dry air in place, it should feel only a degree or two warmer than the actual air temperature.
Temperatures will gradually warm as we head back into the workweek, but the increase will be hardly noticable. Highs on Monday and Tuesday will be only one to two degrees warmer than Sunday, and most of the Ozarks should remain dry.
Wednesday brings the best chance for rain this week as moisture from the Gulf attempts to spread northward into the region. The highest rain chances will be across northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, while places farther north will have a much better chance of staying dry.
The heat will begin to build during the second half of the week as highs climb back into the middle 90s by Friday and continue into next weekend. Humidity will also increase, setting the stage for another round of dangerous summer heat across the Ozarks…
