BOISE, ID — Severe thunderstorms swept across Idaho on Thursday, bringing lightning, strong winds and enough force to topple trees, cut power and ignite brush fires in several areas. Boise recorded gusts up to 68 mph as the system moved through.
The wind damage was significant enough to leave more than 20,000 people without electricity for a time in Ada and Canyon counties. Viewers also shared photos of fallen trees and storm damage as the weather service and local stations tracked the impacts.
