Memorial motorcycle event for local girl benefits Make-a-Wish

Krista’s 27th Annual Motorcycle Event kicked off on Sunday for an afternoon of riding for a good cause.

The event is a memorial for Krista Pawlowski, a 14-year-old girl who lost her life due to a degenerative brain disorder in 2002. It benefits Make-A-Wish annually.

This year’s grand marshal is 3-year-old Myles, a Make-A-Wish child suffering from a rare genetic disorder who loves motorcycles and cars.

It features a poker run with over 300 motorcycles, starting at St. Boniface Ushers Club and ending with Mound Grove Golf Course’s fifth annual golf tournament. Organizers said the event has raised over $600,000 and granted over 132 wishes so far and they’re not slowing down.
