Volunteers gather at Reutter Park to help those in need

LANSING, Mich. WLNS — Volunteers gathered in Reutter Park in Lansing Sunday afternoon with food and hair supplies, all to give back to the homeless community.

Every second Sunday of the month, whether it’s raining, snowing, or 100 degrees volunteers gather at the park to lend a helping hand to the homeless population.

The event was a collaboration with Essential Blessings and Patriot Ambulance Services.

Scott Moran, a Douglas J. Barber student, says the event is a way for him to give back to people in need because he was once in their shoes.

“There was a point in time where I was out, and I wasn’t living the best path to life, and I was stuck out here in the streets and stuff, and I couldn’t have gotten a haircut,” said Moran. “I would have loved the opportunity to have someone, you know, go meet someone that could, you know, help me out. It helps with your confidence. You know, a haircut can help you with a lot of things.”…
