East Hampton girl dies after falling off paddle board at Connecticut pond, official says

EASTFORD — An East Hampton girl died on Sunday after falling into the water while using a paddle board at Crystal Pond, state officials say.

Environmental Conservation Police from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the pond at 12:15 p.m. after getting a report of a person missing from a paddle board, according to a release by Bill Flood, a DEEP spokesperson.

Flood said witnesses reported that the victim, a 15-year-old girl, appeared to have had a medical emergency and fell into the water. He said she was recovered by a good Samaritan who went into the pond to assist…
