The New Orleans area could see another round of heavy rain Sunday after thunderstorms brought powerful cracks of lightning and a sudden deluge that overwhelmed the city’s drainage pumps and inundated roads the day before, according to local weather forecasters.
Senior Meteorologist Damon Singleton said Sunday that Gulf moisture across southeast Louisiana is expected to increase dramatically and combine with a frontal boundary, creating scattered showers and thunderstorms that could lead to excessive rainfall and some measure of flash flooding. That risk increases Monday, he said.
