July Fourth boating fatalities, arrests down from last year

Unlike last year, there were no boating fatalities in Tennessee over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, and Boating Under the Influence (BUI) arrests declined slightly.

During last year’s July Fourth weekend there was one boating fatality on Center Hill Lake and 24 BUI arrests made by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers.

This year there were 16 BUI arrests, and although there were no fatalities, the TWRA reported 11 boating-related injuries. The TWRA also assisted with the recovery of a Stewart County drowning victim unrelated to boating…
